Eternal, Perpetual Reality

What does it feel like to live in the reality that you cannot change something?
The fact that something is going to be the way it is for as long as you will be?
The full realization and acceptance of the fact that nothing else can be done to change a situation,
The reality that you might never be the person you would want to be,

A dream cherished, left as it is, distant and unreachable,
Passions not explored, ambitions abandoned,
A time when everything is more than double effort,
When life seems to be just a corner of everything

The times when everything has been tried and proven to be not working,
The opposite also done with the hopes that they will fail and thus produce the desired result,
Times come when one sees the need to lose the battle and win the war,
When one accepts the reality and moves on,

What if the reality is a nasty, harsh, unfavorable one?
Like loss of a vital part of your life,
Your loved one, one of the 5 senses, memory, or any part of your body,
Something that greatly affects you,

A loss that takes your self-independence and necessitates dependence on others,
A loss that limits your movement, action, reading, socializing, virtually your life,
A loss that makes you let go of many things because you have not the ability to do it on your own,
A loss that is evident every day and keeps eating into you daily,

If you were the cause,
How would you feel about yourself?
Would you curse, hate, ever regret a wrong decision made, wrong choices taken,
What would you do to live with yourself?

What if the unfavorable reality was not natural, neither self caused but caused by another?
With the evidence of the act felt daily and in virtually everything you do or want to do,
How would you feel about the person?
Would you forgive such a person? What would you wish for him/her?

Things happen that resemble the above in life,
People are present that are in the above situations,
It can really be tough to be in such a situation always,
When others are normal and going through simpler lives,

Do everything that you can to avoid such,
Be of help to those that are limited in any way, they need the help,
Life is about living and letting others live abundantly,
Some sacrifices are worth the cost,

With that in mind,
To what extent do you appreciate the abilities that you have?
Though basic and simple they may seem,
The moment they cease to be, a greater appreciation of them will definitely come to be.
